Campaign Story
* Typical cost of capstone projects (including registrations, travel and supplies) is about $1200.
* I am trying to raise $600 as family and school will cover the rest.
Goals for My Fundraiser:
Supporting my capstone project
*** I plan to pursue the project though participation in TSA activities like competitions and community service. ***
The Technology Student Association (TSA) is a national Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) that helps students explore STEM through hands-on projects, competitions, and leadership opportunities.
What is ‘Empathy-Driven Gaming Education Platform’
A project aimed at developing an accessible, affordable gaming education platform that uses immersive, crime investigation-themed modules to teach game development.
Why I am pursuing this project (My why)
- I am a ‘Facilitator’ personality type person with strong ‘innovator’ business potential.
- I’m a game dev whiz who loves making cool, artsy crime investigation games. Right now, I’m working on a project that’s all about making games that anyone can play and understand. My goal? To change the game and make learning about gaming cheap and easy for everyone..
My plan of action: Competitions and Activities
Career Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs) to join:
TSA – The Technology Student Association offers hands-on technical challenges and competitions that hone skills in game development, research, and risk management, making it a perfect fit for the student’s project.
FBLA – Future Business Leaders of America develops strong written communication and detailed review skills through business projects and competitions, aligning well with the student’s desired tasks.
Competitions
This introductory competition fits the project because it emphasizes hands-on software creation, aligning with the technical and creative demands of an Empathy-Driven Gaming Education Platform.
FBLA – FBLA Computer Game & Simulation Programming
This introductory competition helps build foundational game design skills and simulate an interactive experience that can support an empathy-driven narrative, essential for the passion project.
This introductory TSA competition reinforces fundamental coding skills which are crucial for refining the software and interactive components of the gaming education platform in an advanced setting.
As an advanced competition, this event is perfectly suited to transition from technical development to strategic planning, enabling the student to develop a comprehensive plan for launching the Empathy-Driven Gaming Education Platform.
Community Service:
Empathy Through Gaming Workshop
Why it fits: This community service activity connects directly with the passion project by providing a platform for teens to share and learn empathetic skills through gaming; it also builds community awareness in zip code 30252.
Implementation: In Year 1 Spring, the student organizes a workshop at a local community center or library in zip code 30252, recruiting local educators and peers to collaborate on interactive gaming sessions focused on empathy and digital literacy.
Skills Development: Public speaking, community engagement, leadership, facilitation, and event planning
